I'll skip the usual attention-grabbing nonsense of political emails and get right to the point: we have a major fundraising deadline on June 30th, and we need your help.
We're trying to end this month strong because after June 30th, we're required to publicly report how much we've raised since the start of our campaign. Our opponents and outside groups will be very carefully watching this number as they decide how to invest their resources. We want to show them that they're better off spending their money somewhere else.
Statewide campaigns in California are pretty expensive; winning candidates regularly have to spend tens of millions of dollars over the course of the race. And because we don't accept money from corporations, lobbyists, or executives at Big Pharma, Big Oil, and Big Banks, we can't just count on a few big checks to raise the resources we need.
Polls show me leading the field of declared candidates—but that a plurality of voters are still undecided. We're in a strong position, but this race is a real toss up.
If you can, consider making a donation ahead of our June 30th deadline. It will go a long way in boosting the strength of our campaign.
Thanks,
Katie
