The big, ugly betrayal of a bill is working exactly as Republicans planned: |
- At least 4 million people – including 800,000 kids – lost food assistance.
- Nearly 5 million were kicked off Medicaid and CHIP combined.
- ACA premiums shot up 58% across the board – some skyrocketing 10X.
- More than 1.2 million people were forced to drop health coverage entirely.
- Household energy bills are up $110.
|
Behind all of those numbers are real people, friend – family, neighbors, co-workers, classmates. Fellow Americans, like you and me. |
All of us are worse off now than a year ago, when Republicans passed Donald Trump's crowning achievement: the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in U.S. history. |
Republicans are turning a blind eye to the damage their bill has caused, not because they’re surprised by the outcome, but because it’s working exactly as they planned: Sell out working families to make sure Donald Trump and his billionaire and trillionaire allies benefit. |
But I refuse to let the GOP get away with this – and I've spent the last 365+ days working relentlessly to turn the tide. The best thing we can do to stop the full extent of harm in store for folks nationwide is to build up the grassroots war chest to show the GOP we're fired up to fire them. |
Look – when my dad got MS and couldn't keep working, we didn't have an income for the few months it took my mom to learn new skills and get a bookkeeping job. Food stamps helped put food on the table for my six siblings and me over that time. |
Back then, we lived in a country where the government didn’t just say, “You’re on your own.” |
So I cannot – I will not – stand by as the GOP guts lifelines for folks struggling to make ends meet, just to turn around and cut a check to the ultrawealthy. |
And neither can you, friend: Because at this point, nothing short of a surge of small-dollar donations toward our $30,000 mid-month goal on Wednesday night could convince my GOP colleagues that we're done with being sold out to stroke Trump's ego and line his pockets. |
Can you please chip in now to help me make sure MAGA Republicans get the memo that for passing this big, ugly betrayal of a bill, they can kiss their Senate majority goodbye? It's the only way to take back the levers of power in the other Washington for working families on election night. |
