Tom Steyer dumped another $13.5 million of his own money into this race. His total self-funding is now $197 million—and there’ll probably be more to come.
You know what that kind of spending tells me? He has no idea what it's actually like to struggle in California right now.
Tom Steyer doesn’t have to choose between the electric bill and the grocery run. He doesn’t sit at a kitchen table doing the math and come up short. He doesn’t have to figure out how to be in three places at once for three kids who need you.
I have.
I'm a single mom of three. I didn't get into this race because it was easy. I got in because Californians deserve someone who gets it—not someone who can just throw money at a problem until it goes away.
Tom Steyer can't buy that. No amount of self-funding gives you the lived experience of trying to make the numbers work day after day.
But here’s the thing, if we don't have the resources to get our message out, his money could win. These final weeks before June's primary are when voters are tuning in and making up their minds.
And what we raise right now goes toward reaching them with the truth about who's actually fighting for them. That’s why I’m asking:
Thank you,
Katie
