Not only has Trump gutted funding for our public health infrastructure, but right now in the U.S., there is no full-time, Senate-confirmed CDC Director, Surgeon General, FDA Commissioner, OR Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response at HHS. That is a serious gap in leadership at the top and is downright unacceptable. |
Look, we all saw what happened in 2020 when our country wasn’t ready for the COVID pandemic – and I’ve been doing everything I can since to make sure we don’t end up back in that situation. And Trump’s carelessness is undoing it all. |
This isn't a question of IF there will be another pandemic, but WHEN. And a pandemic doesn't care about party politics one bit.
As experts sound the alarm over the decimation of our public health workforce and the research they conduct to prevent outbreaks like these, planning a course of action now could be the difference between minor disruptions and mass casualties. |
