Social Security is a promise that the American people should be able to count on after paying into it their entire lives and a vital lifeline for over 73 million retirees, widowed Americans, and folks with disabilities or mobility limitations.

Donald Trump once swore that he and his unelected co-president Elon Musk – who referred to Social Security as "the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time," and people who rely on it as 'parasites' – wouldn't cut one cent of our benefits.

But it shouldn't come as a surprise that it was all one big lie.

When the already-overstretched agency is at a 50-year staffing low and Trump and Musk want to push out thousands more staffers, that's a benefits cut.

When you make it impossible for recipients and applicants to get help from customer service representatives over the phone, that's a benefits cut.

When people have to wait even longer for in-person appointments and rural folks have to travel up to 135 miles to make them, that's a benefits cut.

So that's why I just voted NO on Trump's nominee to lead the Social Security Administration.

Look, friend: if anyone is defrauding the U.S. government, it's not the hard-working Americans who rely on Social Security to retire with dignity.

It's billionaires like Elon Musk and Donald Trump, decimating the Social Security Administration and other government agencies they know nothing about, all to enrich themselves on the taxpayers' dime.

And if we don't plan a course of action to get their hands OFF Social Security right now, there could be people who don't get their benefits next month. Will you take my Social Security strategy survey by tonight's 11:59 p.m. deadline to help me save this vital lifeline?
