The House budget bill is the GOP's vehicle for slashing Medicaid, food assistance, and clean energy investments to pay for tax giveaways to billionaires.
Last Friday, this budget bill failed to advance out of the Budget Committee, the first step to becoming law. While that's good news, the handful of Republicans who joined Democrats to oppose the bill actually think the budget doesn't go far enough to take help away from families.
Tonight, the Budget Committee is meeting again to try to move Republicans' harmful budget out of committee. We have to stay vigilant. They might negotiate even bigger cuts to the programs that families rely on, in order to get those hardline conservative votes.
Here's what this means for us. We need to keep up the pressure and send a clear message to Congress that we oppose slashing programs that keep our families healthy and combat pollution.
If House Republicans want to follow extremists' lead on gutting the federal government, they need to hear from the American people that we are going to fight them every step of the way.
I'm running for governor to defend the programs that families rely on and to bring down costs for working people. I'm going to loudly and forcefully call out attempts to give tax breaks to billionaires at the expense of our families.
Will you chip in $5 to support my campaign today?
