Wow, what a night!
From California to the East Coast, Democrats won big in yesterday's elections.
Here in California, voters overwhelmingly passed Proposition 50. Millions of Californians showed up to reject Trump's extreme gerrymander of the House of Representatives. The people want to use our power to hold Trump accountable to democracy.
We also elected powerful, courageous women governors: Abigail Spanberger in Virginia and Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey. Both ran on lowering costs and standing up to Trump, and guess what? Voters elected them with a mandate for change.
Now, we have to build on this momentum.
I'm running for governor of California to keep last night's energy going. My agenda is similar to what so many of the change makers who won last night campaigned on: lowering costs, protecting our health care, and defending our rights when the federal government attacks them. This is how we win back voters we've lost, and build the movement we need to pass bold policies.
Yesterday, Senator Padilla announced that he would continue to fight for Californians in the Senate and would not be running for governor. With our primary election coming up fast, I need your help to stay the Democratic frontrunner.
