California's housing crisis is something families feel every single day. For renters, homeowners, and retirees, our system is too expensive and too slow.

As governor, I'll champion policies to speed up construction and remove the barriers that raise costs and delay the homes we desperately need. We have to greenlight innovative building strategies that prioritize housing for all sorts of people who make California thrive: our workforce, students, seniors, and families with young children.
Homelessness prevention is part of the solution, too. By investing in interim housing and data-driven prevention, we will dramatically reduce street homelessness before it happens.
Our next governor needs to be ready to overcome the special interests and entrenched opposition that have made housing unaffordable. I've already gone toe-to-toe with some of the toughest opponents in Washington—and I'll bring that same grit to tackling California's housing crisis.
