We know many of you are on other political email lists. You may even have received panicked messages from PACs you’ve never heard of and politicians trying to scare you into donating.

That’s especially true right now, with the FEC fundraising deadline at the end of the month. But here's what we believe: You are not an ATM.

You are an invaluable part of this grassroots campaign. That’s why we try to give you real information about what’s actually happening on the ground here in Ohio ... and what your donations are actually being used for.

We want to inspire you to join us, not scare you into a rushed decision based on a manufactured emergency. Our goal is simple: to make sure you have accurate, up-to-date information about the state of this battleground race that experts say could determine if we flip the Senate.

So here’s the truth:

This race is incredibly close. The RealClearPolitics polling analysis was just updated, and it now shows Sherrod and Jon Husted in a dead tie: 47.5% to 47.5%.

National Republicans are spending $83 million to attack Sherrod. The Economist recently labeled Ohio the only Senate toss-up race on the map, so the GOP is calling in every megadonor they can.

We need to keep Sherrod’s ads on the air. We’ve already spent more than $1 million to answer the attacks, but the truth is, we need to buy more airtime to keep our message in front of the voters who will decide this race.

Our fundraising goals are not made up. And at the end of the month, we’ll face our first quarterly FEC fundraising deadline since winning the primary. It is the most consequential deadline of the race so far.

We need to show we have the resources to keep fighting and flip this seat. So when you get an email from us asking for your support, that’s what’s happening on our end. Those are the facts.
