When we wake up on Wednesday, I want to know one thingWhy this bank deadline at 5 p.m. ET is a big one.
Yesterday, my team wired the final payment for the TV ads we’ll run in the home stretch. Because of this team, I’m confident our closing message to voters has a chance to break through — despite the billionaires spending big to drown it out. But we can’t stop now. Let me take a minute to explain why we still need to ask for donations and how we will make sure the dollars we raise get put to use. Let’s start with 5 p.m. tonight. That’s our deadline to send in the funds to cover our digital advertising through Monday. This is how we make sure our ads show up where millions of voters are: YouTube, Hulu, Facebook. It’s how we reach the voters we can’t otherwise get to (and there are a lot of them) — folks who have cut the cord or who just don’t watch that much TV these days. My team is planning to wire $477,000 this evening to cover those costs, and right now, we’re $104,000 shy of that target. If you want to make sure our message lands in front of the right voters in the right places at the right time, you can chip in here. I didn’t get into public service because I love asking for money, trust me. But it’s a part of this job, and a pretty critical one for a campaign like ours. Unlike my opponent, I’m not getting $700,000 checks from Big Pharma, or $50 million from the crypto crowd. I don’t want their money anyway. Everything we’ve built since I announced I was running has been from grassroots donations from people like you. I’m really proud of that. More than 1 million contributions in ActBlue, and the vast majority is from people chipping in what they can — in fact, our average gift this week is under $32. It’s why we can win, in spite of being outspent by the shady groups on the other side. So yeah, we talk a lot about our TV and digital ads, and for good reason: It’s how we get our message out to voters in all 88 Ohio counties, a credit to you and the grassroots support we’ve received from day one. But it’s not the only way we reach voters, especially during Get Out the Vote (GOTV). Here’s what we need to raise budget for in the home stretch: Canvassing: We have 22 field locations set up across the state, staffed by some of the most incredible organizers and volunteers. These folks require the most up-to-date voter data to know who’s already cast a ballot and who needs a reminder. Our team needs packets and fliers to hand out voting information to people who answer the door. And everyone needs snacks and pizza and coffee to keep their engines running through polls close. Rallies and Events: Amy Acton and I are holding Fighting for Ohio rallies this weekend and through Election Day. (RSVP here to join us if you can!) These are expensive for a few reasons. We need a secure venue, staff, and volunteers to run the event, and IT equipment and staff to make sure the mics work and we’re all set up. I love the energy out there right now. The more we have in the bank, the bigger we can go with our rallies. To split a donation with Amy’s and my campaign, you can give here. Our final digital ads: As I mentioned, we have a critical bank wire later today to make sure our digital ads stay up through the weekend. On Monday, we’ll have one more shot to reach voters in the final 24 hours of this election — when anyone in Ohio searches for their polling location, I want to make sure they have no problem finding the right information. When anyone wants to know where my opponent and I stand on data centers, or the war in Iran, or prescription drug prices, I want to help them find it. And I want to make sure our closing message reaches everyone we can before it’s too late. When I wake up on Wednesday, all of us want to be able to say that we did everything we could to win. Right now that means asking you to make a grassroots donation to fund the final push to Election Day. If you are unable to make a donation right now, I understand. There are other ways to help win this election — canvassing, writing postcards to voters, phone banking, or text banking with us will make a big difference. You can also forward this note. Thanks for everything, and hope to see you at a rally soon! In solidarity, Sherrod Brown Before you click away! Republican spending in Ohio has reached $320 million, and Sherrod Brown is counting on your support to keep up. We can’t outspend them, but we can outwork them.
