I'm running for California Governor, because I'm not going to stay silent while Donald Trump threatens our rights and destabilizes our economy.
I'm fighting for the future all of our kids deserve:
- Bringing down health care costs, so that getting sick doesn't mean a lifetime of financial harm.
- Building more housing for all income levels, so that people can afford to live, work, and raise a family here.
- Combating the climate crisis, so that we can prevent wildfires from getting even more frequent and devastating.
On every one of these issues and more, Trump is moving us in the exact wrong direction. He's supported slashing Medicaid and Medicare in the federal budget. His tariffs will make it more expensive and difficult to build housing. He's politicized disaster relief and proposed undoing the progress we've made on climate action.
Our leaders need to be clear-eyed about the threat Trump poses to our country. We also have to be specific in explaining to people what the harm is.
In Congress, I used my platform (and on occasion, my whiteboard) to break down for people exactly how Donald Trump was ripping us off.
In this moment, we could use a whole lot more of that clarity.
