I make cookies for people. People love my cookies. I want to chronicle my cookies as the following happens:

1. New friends eat cookies for the first time...

2. Old friends get cookies again...

3. People ask about the cookies...

By the way, I cannot eat my cookies. I am gluten intolerant.

These cookies are all about you...

I do not have cookie experiences everyday, but for the 3-4 days a week when something MAGICAL happens, I would like to share it with all of you...

Love, Jeanne

Truth to Power PAC

Dear friend,

We have more millionaires in Congress than moms of school-age kids. That’s the simple explanation for why corporations get tax breaks while families get left behind.

When I got to Congress, I was the first single mom of young kids elected to serve. That was clear in every aspect of the job.

I challenged tax policy that punished single parents compared to married parents. They told me no one had ever asked about that before.

I questioned why the schedule was stacked against working parents—everything from 19 hours every week lost to cross-country commutes, to last-minute changes that would leave me scrambling to find childcare. They told me they couldn’t work around my “special circumstances.”

The system is broken. The reason American families don’t get the help they need is because too many of the people in charge don’t have to face the same challenges we do. They’re not doing the grocery shopping or filling up the minivan; their biggest struggle is whether their corporate buddies will cut that campaign check to keep them in power.

We have a chance this November to elect a different kind of leadership: moms who will prioritize family-friendly policies over corporate giveaways. But to do that, we need resources. Will you split a donation today between my group, Truth to Power, and my good friends at Vote Mama, the country’s first organization dedicated to electing Democratic moms to every level of government?

Thanks for being part of this movement,
Katie
