Hi, it's Patrick – Sherrod's Campaign Manager. Sorry to come at you like this after a long weekend. There's no easy way to say it, so I'll just rip off the bandaid.

We needed to raise $500,000 over the weekend to afford our next ad payment. Instead, we had some of our slowest days of fundraising since Sherrod launched his campaign last year.

Right-wing tech billionaire Peter Thiel recently launched a seven-figure ad buy against us – adding to the $133 million that the GOP is already spending in this race.

The only way we can stay competitive is by running TV ads of our own and getting in the field to talk directly with voters. Problem is, our latest slowdown leaves us vulnerable to far-right attacks and risks giving Republicans an opening to take the lead in our race.

We just can't have our fundraising fall behind at the same time that we're getting pummeled by the GOP. They're outspending us, and if we go dark, we'll lose our chance to reach key voter targets.
