Jeanne's Cookies: Everything is so damn expensive

People are working harder than ever – and they're still falling behind.

Groceries cost more. Health insurance keeps going up. Child care is skyrocketing. And housing prices are out of control.

Working families are doing everything right, but they're still asking the same question: Why does it feel so damn hard just to afford a normal life?

Some politicians in Washington want to pretend affordability isn't a problem. My opponent, Jon Husted, says people just need to make more money. Others have called the crisis a "hoax."

Try telling that to parents working two jobs and still struggling to afford food and school supplies and pay the rent every month.

Here's the irony: American workers are more productive than ever. Big companies are posting record profits. CEOs are taking home paychecks most of us can't even imagine, and America is the richest country in the world.

So why are people struggling? The problem isn't workers.

The problem is that the wealth is going right to the top – and politicians like Jon Husted are protecting their billionaire donors instead of working families.

That's why I'm running for Senate; I came off the sidelines because I'm sick of seeing the wealthiest people in the world get tax breaks while working families are stuck with higher costs.

But I can't do this alone.

I know times are tight, but this grassroots campaign is powered by regular people standing together. And if everybody chips in a little, then together, we can build something stronger.
