But if you think I'm making a big deal out of nothing, I want to shed some light on some of the President's priorities since retaking office in January:
Trump solicited huge donations from Big Tech players like Google, Amazon, Apple, and Meta to fund his gold-plated ballroom. And now? Trump put out an executive order to try to ban any state from regulating AI companies. Coincidence?
Trump accepted a private jet worth hundreds of millions of dollars from Qatar as a "gift" to be used as Air Force One – and he wants to keep it after he leaves office. After that? Trump struck a deal to develop one of his golf courses in Qatar.
Trump has filed frivolous lawsuits with companies like ABC and Paramount to get them to bow to his wishes. Now? He's raking in millions from a lot of those same companies for his presidential library.
I mean, this barely scratches the surface. Just consider his recent pardons:
Trump pardoned a crypto billionaire accused of money laundering – shortly after he helped the Trump family launch their own crypto coin, which raked in over $800 million in the first half of the year.
While Trump justified the unauthorized bombings of boats in the Gulf and Pacific by calling them "drug boats" without proof, Trump freed a Honduran drug lord who moved TONS of cocaine into the United States.
Trump bashed Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar for a "lack of loyalty" – because after Trump gave him a full pardon for federal bribery charges brought by Biden's Department of Justice, Cuellar did not switch allegiance to the GOP when he filed for reelection.
I could keep going – but it should be clear that Trump does not care about stopping crime, or drug trafficking, or keeping Americans safe. He doesn't care if you can't afford health care when ACA premiums skyrocket next year. He only helps people who enrich him or sway him with cheap flattery.
But he can be stopped. Republicans may be willing to sit by and watch as Trump breaks the law and undermines the Constitution, but Democrats won't. And that starts with holding Republicans accountable in the midterms.
I'll work day in and day out to do just that. But I won't succeed without your help.
