3 reasons why I need your help tonight

Friend,

With the deadline to reach my $30,000 monthly fundraising goal at midnight tonight, I'm about to ask you to chip in any amount you can – but first, I want to take a moment to reflect on what a chaotic month it's been:

1. From reading out the 940-page text on the floor to setting a record for the most amendment votes over the 26-hour vote-a-rama, Senate Democrats and I did everything in our power to stop Trump's Big, Ugly Betrayal of a Bill. But on July 1, it passed with JD Vance's tiebreaking vote.

2. Forcing an estimated 15 million people to lose health insurance to pass trillions in tax cuts for the wealthy just wasn't enough for the president – so then he told Republicans to zero out funding for PBS and NPR and billions more from global aid. And in the dead of night on July 18, they obeyed.

3. But that still wasn't enough – because all month long, Trump's been illegally blocking billions for public schools nationwide. So I blocked his Education Department nominee's glide path to confirmation, and kept up the public pressure until the administration finally announce they'd release the funding.

And now, as we reach the first end-of-month deadline since Trump's pro-billionaire Project 2025 budget became law, I need your help.

If I come up short tonight, the GOP will take our low fundraising numbers as a sign that people actually support their anti-middle-class agenda.

Worse than that, we may not have the resources to stop that agenda by taking back the Senate majority in 2026 – unless, before 11:59 p.m. tonight, each and every person on this grassroots team steps up to do their part.

Anything you can give to support this critical work tonight will help us build the coalition we need to hold Trump accountable and stop the GOP from pushing through more of his out-of-touch policies.

Yesterday, Vice President Harris announced that she would not be running for California Governor.

I want to talk a little bit about what this is going to mean for us, but first, will you chip in $5 to show everyone watching this race that our campaign is as strong as ever?

Many Californians, including myself, appreciate Kamala's long history of dedication and service to our state. Now that she's made clear that she's staying out, the race for California Governor is going to kick into higher gear.

You can expect to see new polls in the weeks and months to come, and a bunch of political donors and organizations that have been waiting to see what happens will be getting off the sidelines.

In terms of how I'm spending my time, I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing for the past five months, which is getting into every part and pocket of California and meeting people where they are. To represent a big state like California, I couldn't wait to hear people's stories and bring people together to work on solutions for our biggest challenges.

But on the money side, the reality is that winning elections here is expensive, and outside groups are going to be making decisions very soon about whether to flood money into this race.

For a campaign like ours that rejects money from corporations, lobbyists, and executives at Big Pharma, Big Oil, and Big Banks, this is a make or break moment. We're counting on grassroots donors like you to help us show everyone that our campaign is strong and not going anywhere.

here's what we can expect from this Big, Ugly Betrayal

I know I keep saying that Republicans' Big, Ugly Bill (which just became law) is the worst betrayal of working families in U.S. history. But unfortunately, it's true.

15 million Americans will lose their healthcare thanks to Trump's Medicaid cuts, sabotage of the Affordable Care Act, and refusal to renew health care tax credits.
The largest cuts to SNAP ever, ripping food away from millions of Americans while raising grocery costs.
Putting rural hospitals at risk of shutting down, cutting off health care access in Central and Eastern Washington.
Defunding Planned Parenthood, jeopardizing preventative care like cancer screenings, birth control, and STI testing.
Raising energy costs for families and businesses by gutting both clean energy tax credits and other investments in our local economy.

All that, and much more, friend – and it's just to give billionaires and giant corporations trillions in tax breaks. The Republican Party has facilitated the biggest transfer of wealth ever. But don't let them fool you into thinking they are modern day Robin Hoods.

They are taking from the poorest folks among us to put handfuls of cash into the pockets of the people who need extra handouts the least – and it's Washington families, seniors, workers, and women who will pay the price.

That's why I'm not giving up this fight. I can't – so I'm working around the clock to hold them accountable and to make sure that people in Washington state and everyone knows exactly who's to blame when our rural hospitals close, when health insurers drop our kids from coverage, and when nursing homes kick seniors out.
