Donald Trump is an expert at the art of distraction.
While we absolutely need to watch out for how Trump's disastrous tariffs are destabilizing our economy, we can't take our eyes off his dangerous dismantling of our government either.
One example I've been thinking about lately is his cuts to a federal program that helped school districts buy fresh produce from local farms.
Students benefit from having nutritious food, which helps them learn better. Farmers benefit from having consistent buyers for their products. We all benefit from having a well-educated workforce that can power our economy for decades to come.
Donald Trump's reckless cuts hurt all of us. The only ones who gain are his rich cronies, who are chomping at the bit for tax giveaways—at the expense of everyday Americans.
We need leadership that is laser-focused on making life better for working people. That's the kind of governor I'll be.
