In 2022, three global food companies made more than $10 BILLION in combined profit. That's double what these corporations made in 2020, or any year before then.
Meanwhile, we have record numbers of families going hungry. It's a rigged system that allows kids to go without fruits and vegetables while a handful of already wealthy individuals get even richer.
Big corporations are using their monopoly power to price-gouge people at the grocery store, and it's a real problem that Congress must address. But there's a reason many of my colleagues are willing to ignore this issue: Agribusiness PACs contributed nearly $26 MILLION to candidates in the 2022 cycle, with money landing in both Democrat and Republican bank accounts.
