In Washington, "call time" usually refers to the many hours that politicians spend calling big donors and special interest groups to ask for donations. It's a consequence of relying on special interests to fund campaigns—and it's everything that's wrong with D.C.
I don't call corporate PACs or lobbyists for donations. Nor does Truth to Power take money from bad actors seeking to influence our democracy. But the hard truth is that we need money, too. That's why our network of grassroots donors is so vital. And it's why I love taking a moment to personally thank some of our supporters by doing a different type of call time!
