Our hard work is being recognized nationwide.📰 ✨We elected one of the most diverse legislatures in state history in Virginia, showing Republicans that representation matters✨ Together, we elected: A record number of women lawmakers – 47 women in the General Assembly and 14 women are set to serve in the Senate (the most ever in the chamber!) A historic number of Black lawmakers – including at least 24 Black delegates in the House and the most Black members of the Virginia Senate in 150 years Delegate Don Scott, the first Black Speaker of the House in Virginia's history Senator-elect Danica Roem, the first openly trans lawmaker to ever win respective elections to a state House and Senate Delegate-elect Rozia Henson, the first openly gay Black man ever elected in the state's legislature 💸While we celebrated key wins, we were also able to keep up the momentum and invest early in key 2024 battleground states💸 This is only an overview of the power of grassroots organizing, though we tried to put your impact into numbers and words, so much more of it will be felt in the daily lives of your neighbors and loved ones. You protected the reproductive rights of people making the right choices for their health. You fought against attempts to restrict access to the ballot. You supported Democratic candidates who are invested in a brighter and more equal future. We couldn't have done this without you.
