When Republicans advocated for archaic laws to police pregnant people's bodies – we used our trifecta to repeal our state's 1931 abortion ban and pass legislation to remove arbitrary and medically unnecessary hurdles to accessing reproductive healthcare – something Michiganders enshrined as a state constitutional right via ballot initiative in 2022. When Republicans attacked LGBTQ+ youth – we used our trifecta to enshrine protections for LGBTQ+ Michiganders into our state civil rights act and to ban so-called "conversion therapy" on children. And when Republicans came after workers' rights – we used our trifecta to become the first state in nearly 60 years to repeal so-called "right to work" laws - empowering workers and protecting collective bargaining. With Democrats in control of the House, Senate, and governorship, we're able to fight back against Republicans' hateful agenda – and win. It's that simple. But now, our trifecta could be at risk. Democrats are gearing up right now to defend our House majority in two upcoming special elections, and we can't afford to lose even one seat.
