In a recent TV interview I was asked what sets me apart from the other Democrats in this race, here's what I shared:
- I'm the only Democrat in this race who has never taken corporate PAC money.
- I'm the only candidate rejecting contributions from federal lobbyists, and Big Oil, Big Pharma, and Big Bank executives.
- I currently represent an equal number of Democrats, Republicans, and independent voters in Congress. I've been able to win in a purple district by talking with voters about the many goals we have in common, like a strong economy and affordable housing.
- I've only been in Congress for five years, but I've used the power I have to make real change. I used a hearing to guarantee free COVID testing in the early days of the pandemic, and passed legislation to hold Big Pharma responsible for price gouging.
I'm running because Californians deserve a Senator who will stand up to big corporations and special interests and fight for them. Our Senator will have the chance to guide our party's messaging and priorities for decades to come.
