| This spring, I signed the Gun Safety Act of 2023 to keep guns out of our schools, government buildings, and health care facilities. This is a set of reforms that families all across our state have spent years advocating for. It is long overdue, and I'm incredibly proud that we finally got the job done. But defending this legislation won't be easy. Moments after I signed it, the NRA filed a lawsuit against me.
Trust me, the NRA doesn't just want to stop the work I’m doing in Maryland – they want to stop gun safety legislation altogether. I'm more than ready to take them on, and I know I'm not alone. I'm just one of dozens of Democratic governors who are taking on these tough fights every single day – whether it's preventing gun violence, defending reproductive rights, protecting voting rights, or blocking attacks against our democracy itself.
