What this Senate race is all about

Friend,

They don't just give you fair wages.

They don't just give you health care or retirement benefits or safe working conditions.

Nope.

That's what this Senate race is about – standing up to the people rigging the system for the wealthy and well-connected and fighting for the folks who actually make this country work.

When I first came to the Senate, they gave me a shiny pin – the kind that says, "Look how important I am."

I wore it for a couple of days.

Then, I replaced it with a pin of a canary in a birdcage – a little something that a union worker gave me at a Workers' Memorial Day rally.

You might know the story: Coal miners used to carry canaries down into the mines as a warning system against poisonous gases. There was no union strong enough or government that cared enough to protect them – they were on their own.

So much has changed since then. But it's not because Wall Street or powerful special interests started handing out workers' rights and benefits.

Things changed because folks like us stood up and fought for change. Together.

That's what this grassroots campaign is about, friend. And I need you to come off the sidelines and join me in this fight.
