Not the place we want to be with 1 day left to persuade and mobilize millions of votersWe can't afford to take our foot off the gas
Patrick here. Election Day is Tuesday, so I won’t waste any time. Here’s what our campaign is facing right now.
SHORTFALL I don’t know what other campaigns are experiencing or the full details of their fundraising, but the big picture appears to be that Democratic fundraising is stalling in the most critical phase of the midterms. ActBlue saw a steep drop-off yesterday, and today, our campaign’s fundraising numbers are continuing to slow down. Take a look at this screenshot of the total amount raised by Democrats on ActBlue over the past few days: (Source: ActBlue Ticker Tracker) I’m not making this up. Democrats raised $2.57 million less online yesterday than the day before. That’s a clear trend — and it’s heading in a bad direction. If people are starting to tune out, or worse, if they think this election is already decided, we’re all in for a very rude awakening on Tuesday night. Here’s the truth: Our fundraising has slowed down at the worst time. We’ve committed budgets for our final push to get out the vote. If we don’t raise an additional $75K tonight to make up for the shortfall we’re experiencing on our Google and Facebook ads, we’ll have no choice but to scale down our digital ads on the final day of voter outreach. It’s our last chance to reach millions of Ohioans before they head to the polls on Tuesday. HERE’S WHY WE CAN’T LET UP What we’re seeing here internally confirms this race will be close. The polls in Ohio are still within the margin of error and we need to reach every last voter with Sherrod’s message if we’re going to win. If you think this race is over, or if you have a friend or neighbor who does, let me lay this out as clearly as I can: The worst possible thing to happen to our campaign right now is complacency. The other side isn’t slowing down — the Vice President is flying in tomorrow to boost their momentum — and neither can we. Ohio is a hard state for a Democrat to win – Donald Trump won the state by 11 points in 2024. We are fighting an uphill battle, and despite encouraging early vote numbers for our campaign, the turnout on Election Day could tilt the scale in either direction. At least 60% of total votes still need to be cast, and many Ohioans are still making up their minds. We need to be prepared for our opponent’s supporters to turn out at a high rate on Tuesday, which means our campaign needs to run through the tape and continue reaching every voter we can. The good news is we’ve put ourselves in a position to be able to win on Tuesday. The work we’ve done thus far means that we are 100% in this fight. But winning is not a foregone conclusion. Not by a long shot. I get that you’re getting a lot of messages from candidates across the country right now. We’ve come too far and worked too hard to let this slip through our fingers now – and we have a strong shot at winning in Ohio. A victory here could tip the scales for Senate control, too. Rushing a last-minute donation to our campaign is the most strategic investment you can make in the final sprint, and you have my word it’ll be put to use right away to get those last voters we need out to vote. I don’t want to make a $75K cut to our mobilization budget on the final day before the election, but I might not have a choice. Your support today will help us hit the gas and run through the tape. I really, really hope we can count on you. Patrick Eisenhauer Campaign Manager Before you click away! Republican spending in Ohio has reached $320 million, and Sherrod Brown is counting on your support to keep up. We can’t outspend them, but we can outwork them.
