1️⃣ Celebrate🎉: State Dems win special elections and defend Michigan trifecta In Michigan, Democrats Peter Herzberg and Mai Xiong won their special elections on Tuesday. These wins secured Democrats' critical trifecta, blocked a Republican power grab, and set the tone for key races this fall → 2️⃣ Arizona: House Republicans block Democrats' efforts to repeal abortion ban In Arizona, Democrats are working hard to repeal a 160-year-old abortion ban Republicans recently upheld. The fight for abortion access and reproductive freedoms continues in key target states and nationwide → 3️⃣ Florida: DeSantis backtracks on book ban law In Florida, following the passage of a 2022 law making it easier to challenge books in schools, DeSantis has started to backtrack after the bill was used to challenge texts like the Bible. Republicans' attack on books was never about parents' input on literature, it's always been about discrimination towards the LGBTQ+ community, and sanitizing our history and culture → 4️⃣ Idaho: SCOTUS permits Republicans' ban on gender-affirming care In Idaho, as legal battles continue, the state has been given the go-ahead to enforce its ban on gender-affirming care for transgender minors.
