Hi, it's California Governor Gavin Newsom. As governor, I urge every leader in our country to use compassion, protect democracy, treasure diversity, and so much more. But as you read this, the Virginia GOP and extreme Governor Glenn Youngkin are waging an all-out war on our democracy ahead of a critical Election Day. Both the Virginia House and Senate are up for grabs in just 45 days, and the margins are ultra-thin, so we need to make sure Democrats have the resources they need to win. That's why I'm humbly asking you to chip in $7 to the DLCC: $7 to protect abortion rights – every sitting Republican legislator in Virginia is on the record with an explicit anti-abortion stance – if they secure a trifecta, they'll pass dangerous restrictions on abortion. $7 to stand up for the LGBTQ+ community, fighting back against Republican-backed bills that ban gender-affirming care for minors and target LGBTQ+ students. $7 to protect expanded access to the ballot box by safeguarding early voting laws and protecting Virginians against voter intimidation. And that's just scratching the surface – common sense gun safety, public education, and paid parental and family leave are all on the ballot in Virginia. To power Democrats to victory in Virginia, I'm calling on you: Will you rush $7 right now to give state Democrats the resources they need to compete against Republicans' multi-million dollar war chest in Virginia and beyond? I've seen firsthand what Democratic state legislators can accomplish with legislative majorities, but with Republicans pouring millions into these races, we need to be ready for an uphill battle this November.
